I was born and raised in Charleston, SC and went to Hanahan High School in Hanahan, SC. This is where I met Karen St. Marie, Founder of S.A.F.E. I earned by Bachelor of Science degree from Charleston Southern University and was fortunate to play volleyball for them all four years. My professional human resources career began in 1990 with Charleston/Dorchester Mental Health Center where I served as the Human Resources Director. I transferred to Trident Technical College in March, 2010 where I serve as the Benefits Administrator. I plan to retire in 2021 and start working my retirement job working for Cigar Row Events.
On a personal note, I am the proud mother to a very handsome 24-year-old red-headed son who has and does keep me on my toes! We will be expanding our family in November, 2021 when he marries his beautiful fiancé. Our family enjoys the outdoors to include golfing and relaxing on the beach.
My personal connection to S.A.F.E. is my long-term friendship with Karen! Once her son, Erick, started his journey with epilepsy, Karen quickly discovered there was little community support in Charleston. She made it her personal mission to make a change for Erick and others by establishing S.A.F.E. I was honored to be asked to serve as a board member for S.A.F.E. due to my human resources background

Nicole began her journey with epilepsy on July 1, 2012 when her then 2 month old daughter, Charlotte, had her first seizure. Nicole, her older daughter Kaylin, and Charlotte became members of S.A.F.E. in early 2013. Later that year, it was confirmed that Charlotte's epilepsy diagnosis was due to a chromosomal deletion.
